Introductory Thinking Activity on Mass Media and Communication

Hello Readers,
This blog is a part of my thinking activity on Mass media and communication.

What is communication?

"Communication is simply the act of transferring information from one place, person or group to another."

Communication process involves one sender and a recipient. Media critic and theorist James Carey defined communication as

"a symbolic process whereby reality is produced, maintained, repaired and transformed"

in his 1992 book

"Communication as Culture".

There are two types of communication and difference between Verbal and non verbal communication. As we believe that communication is a process of interacting with others. No matter if you are speaking something or not. You can convey your massage through some sign as well. So communication is not depending on words but on massage which you want to convey with your friends or with your teacher or with people. The communication in which we used words or language it is called Verbal communication. You can convey your massage in a oral or written from. Non verbal communication is a communication in which we are not using words or any language but we are using body language or some kind of sings to convey our massage. For example, in whatapp, we are using emoji to convey our mood, not by words but by symbol.

As Stephen Krashen said that,

"Focus on massage not on form"

Sometimes, we make some kind of mistakes while communicating with other. For example, it may happen that your massage is good but while doing communication you are making some kind of mistakes in the form of language or words. So according of stephan Krashen, massage is important then form.

What is mass communication? :

Mass communication is a study of how people exchange information through mass media. For example, you can use any digital media to exchange your information. You can exchange your information through Facebook or through whatapp as well. There are also other digital media as well. Mass communication us different from other communications. There is difference between mass communication and mass media. The technology through which this communication takes place. Nowadays, we are using digital media such as Facebook, WhatsApp, twitter, Instagram etc. So the most common form of mass media today are Internet, newspapers and television. But as we believe one coin has two sides. One is good or bad. So mass media has its advantages as well as disadvantage. For example, by using Internet, we can learn new things. To understand something, you can ask Google and Google will give you some kind of good resources. But while reading this resources, you have to find good or authentic resources.
So, with the advance of technology and the creation of such thing as social media, our lives becomes more easier and faster. We can also shear our thoughts with others and sometimes you may get some feedback from other.

According to me,

Mass communication is better than other communication. You can read newspapers or magazines and get information. You can also use radio and television or film. Nowadays, all are interested in Web-series. There are some famous web series which is based on some famous books. For example, Sacred Games is a book by Vikram Chandra published in 2006. So the Sacred Games is based on this novel. Leila is an Indian dystopian drama web television series directed by Deepa Mehta, Shanker Raman and Pawan Kumar which is Based on the 2017 eponymous novel by Prayaag Akbar.

Mass Communication refers to the act of disseminating information to the masses or public and Mass Media refers to the medium or the method employed to disseminate this information. Modern media comes in many different formats, including print media such as books, magazines, newspapers television, movies, music, etc.
So for me, the most effective mediums of communication would be social media.
